My Editorial Process

My Editorial Process

HOW I WORK

Hi, and Welcome.

My name is Racheal Ede. I’m a medical laboratory scientist and content marketing writer in B2B Life Sciences, with focus on biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

Here, I share a breakdown of my editorial process for transparency and effective collaboration. However, it’s not one-size-fit-all, it may vary slightly depending on the complexity of your project and your particular editorial process.

1. Discovery call

This could be a discovery call or intake brief with a list of questions for you to answer. At this stage, we discuss project scope, the why behind your project, what success looks like for you, deadlines, and budget.

 2. Proposal

Using the information from our call (or intake brief), I’d create and send you a proposal with a quote.

3. Kickoff call

Once the proposal is approved, we proceed with a kickoff call.

This is where we dive deeper into your product/service, project scope, and expectations for successful execution. We’ll discuss your goals, target audience, intended call to action, SME or customer interviews, keywords, where the project sits in the marketing funnel, and all other details.

If obtainable, it’d be great to have all project stakeholders present during the call to ensure that everyone’s interest and plan for the content is aligned.

4. Documentation review

After the  kick off call, I’ll ask for background materials to help me quickly get up to speed and create content that truly resonates with your target customers and aligns with your specific marketing objectives.

These documents may include buyer persona or  target audience demographic information, editorial guidelines, product/service resources, recorded webinars, articles, case studies, white papers, reports, reviews, slide decks or other relevant resources.

5. Content Brief Approval

After the call and documentation review, you’ll receive a content brief  for approval from all the reviewers.

This brief will serve as a guide through the course of the project, so alignment at this stage is crucial. If any important ideas are not covered or missing in the brief, this stage ensures that such is addressed early on.

The brief will include the following details:

  • Primary goal of the content
  • Target audience
  • Call to actions
  • Suggestions for subject matter interviews
  • High-level overview of the project
  • Project outline describing the main points to cover
  • Target keywords
  • Names of stakeholders involved in the review process and their roles
  • Project deadline

6. Execution

Brief approved, now we get down to the main business.  This phase includes research, SME interviews, writing  and editing.

My content marketing skills and experience combined with background in medical laboratory sciences, makes me the best person to transform technical biotech concepts into clear, persuasive, and high-value content that engages the target audience.

7. Reviews and Edit

You’ll receive the deliverables for reviews and feedback from you and acknowledged project stakeholders.  I’ll remain readily available through this period, attentive to your needs and committed to incorporating edits until the final product meets desired expectations.

8. Final Deliverables

Because we’ve painstakingly followed this editorial process, you’d expect that the final deliverables will be in alignment with your goals and specific needs.
